How Google will use AI to identify methane gas leaks from space

Google and the Environmental Defense Fund are partnering to launch MethaneSAT, a satellite project that will track methane emissions from oil and gas facilities. The project aims to help energy companies, researchers, and the public sector anticipate and mitigate methane emissions. The satellite data will be overlayed with Google's AI-generated methane map and made available through Google Earth Engine.
